y Care gets himself sin binned and costs England 3 points for a pointless and “petulant” indiscretion of charging into the back of Ireland prop Marcus Horan. Commentator Brian Moore slams Care’s act as just plain “stupid” and England coach Martin Johnson doesn’t look best pleased.

Overall, his on-field display is nowhere near as bad as some other performances on this list. However, as captain, his decision not to take the three points and instead kick to the corner in the dying minutes, which ultimately led to Stuart Lancaster’s side being knocked out in the pool stage is simply unforgivable.

England fans have rarely raged at one man like this. It’s amazing how he bounced back from this to play a crucial role under Eddie Jones for three years before the new generation of flankers saw him phased out of the squad.
