27 players will MISS the British and Irish Lions first training camp

There will be a staggering 27 players missing from Warren Gatland’s first pre-tour Lions training camp at the Vale of Glamorgan on Monday.

The group are meeting up at Wales’ base at the Vale on Monday for the first of two camps before the squad flies out to New Zealand.

However, the coaching team will have to manage with severely depleted resources because players who are involved in PRO12 and Aviva Premiership semi-finals will remain with their club sides, as will those involved in the various play-offs.
