Julian Savea has backed up his wife Fatima’s call for calm over his struggles in Toulon and confirmed there have been threats to one of his daughters.
Fatima Savea drew a sharp response from Toulon fans when she suggested on Sunday (NZT) that she feared for her and her daughter’s life “with the amount of threats and hateful messages I have received from angry fans”.
The former All Black winger then stepped up to back her up:
Please don’t tell me what to do kind sir. My wife wasn’t speaking about all the fans or you or anyone on Twitter. She was talking about the ones who have messaged her with threats towards our daughter on Facebook and Instagram.

La #TeamRCT, a busy twitter account for Toulon fans that has 4,331 followers, was quick to react, noting they rarely forward tweets but “this one shocks me”.
They replied with: “We are not the mafia here. No one is going to attack his family. We have never had a history of that order here.”
