Amazon are preparing TV bid for Rugby Union

Amazon are looking at entering the market for Premiership Rugby rights although they will have to wait three years due to the current contract with BT Sport.

The Rugby Paper has reported that Amazon, who took a serious look at Premier League football rights last month, are now weighing up a bid to bring English elite rugby to their service.

They’re also looking at purchasing the rights to New Zealand Rugby, which also expires in 2021.

Global giants Amazon have deep pockets and would quickly become serious players if they decided to get involved with rugby.

They’re also reportedly speaking to a number of Premiership clubs about featuring in a behind the scenes documenatary.

They recently paid Premier League leaders Manchester City £10m for access to follow the side across the season.

Despite a Premiership club probably recieving significantly less it would still be a heavy windfall for many clubs.
