“Barrel chested, very quick, cracking engine” – Will Greenwood picks his future England centre partnership

Rugby legend Will Greenwood has named his uncapped centre partnership that Eddie Jones should pick while Lions away.

Writing in The Telegraph, the World Cup-winner ran through the abundance of raw talent that Jones has to choose from, leaving out all current stars.

In the centres he went for uncapped duo Piers O’Conor (Bristol Bears) and Luke Northmore (Harlequins).

Greenwood said: “Luke at 24 has bags of potential. Barrel chested, very quick, tough defender, cracking engine, I have really enjoyed watching this lad play.

“Northmore gets on the end of tries and smashes lads who run up his channel.

“O’Conor gets away from you quickly if you show him a gap. When he is surrounded by Radradra and Piutau it is tough to get headlines. But I rarely see O’Conor make an error.

“I like the fact he has done the rounds; Ealing and Bedford are in his list of clubs played for. It gives a player an extra dimension. He has had to graft for it and stick at it when some wonderkids get it gifted to them.”
