BOLD | Matt Dawson picked nine Englishmen in his Lions XV

England and Lions legend Matt Dawson is the latest former star to pick his team with the scrum-half controversially leaving Owen Farrell out of his XV.

He won 77 caps for his country in total, including nine as captain, and was instrumental as England won the 2003 Six Nations Grand Slam and triumphed at the 2003 World Cup.

Dawson, who was best known for his trademark ‘sniping runs’ and played the whistle well, also went on three British & Irish Lions tours.

Selecting his team for the Mail Online, his line-up is made up of nine Englishmen, four Welshman and single representatives from Ireland and Scotland.

DID YOU KNOW? Before rugby union became openly professional in 1995 Matt Dawson worked as a security guard and coached at Spratton Hall Schoo
