Rugby kit giants Canterbury have launched their latest line of boots in the ‘Elites’ line, with the forwards in the mind for the most recent design. Canterbury have produced a real gift for the stars of the scrum, as the Stampede Elites have dropped online and in stores across the UK & Ireland.
Our friends at Canterbury allowed us to be amongst the first to test out the new boots, that come in a variety of bold and striking ‘colourways’. From the All Blacks infused midnight black-outs, to the orange and ruby combination that dares to be different, the all-new Stampede Elites offer the players in the forward pack some serious style for their footwear, whilst they are running riot and flattening the opposition.
We got our hands on the orange colourway edition, which merges together a rainbow of colours that burst into life upon the pitch. Amidst the black and grey of traditional forwards boots, the burning lava colour provides a red-hot look, that cools into a deep metallic purple on the underside of the boots.
The slick interwoven support studs provide an extra level of balance to dig the heels in at scrum-time, and have an other-worldly glow to them, that glows through the mud of even the most churned up Sunday league pitch. The brand have also confirmed that further ‘colourways’ will follow later in 2024, and we can’t wait to see what they come out with.
The tagline that accompanies the boots is ‘Unleash Chaos’, with a furious looking rhinoceros chosen to embody the aggression. The ‘Baby Rhino’ Ellis Genge is the perfect example of the power-orientated line-breaking forward that the boots were designed for, with sturdiness in the collision and the set-piece in mind.
THE TECH BEHIND THE BOOTS: CANTERBURY STAMPEDE ELITES
Whilst we can appreciate the comfort of the boots and marvel at the eye-catching designs, we’ve left it to the experts to explain the science behind the footwear.
Canterbury have worked tirelessly on this latest model, and explained to us how they have prioritised comfort, power and traction to elevate the performance of front, second and back rowers across the world.
COMFORT: “The Stampede collection has been created to increase power and stability under foot, while incorporating bio-based technology for improved comfort. The Stampede’s wider toe-box and heel support provides optimised fit and comfort.”
POWER: “The Flightbeam 2.0 outsole allows for 3 x greater power output, with greater stability and enhanced traction for the athlete.
TRACTION: “With 8x 18mm studs, players can experience ultimate traction, ready to unleash chaos on the pitch.”
