Charlie Sharples

Gloucester winger Charlie Sharples has made four appearances for England, scoring two tries.

Gloucester wing Charlie Sharples, who was born in Hong Kong, is a former district athlete, running a time of 11.30 seconds over the 100m distance at the age of 17. He also ran 40m in a time of 4.82 seconds at the England RWC training camp in 2011, the fastest time recorded in the England squad. He made his England debut against Wales in August 2011 but has struggled to tie down a place, winning just four caps, scoring two tries. Following a dual registration with Moseley in 2007, Sharples has spent his whole club career at Gloucester, scoring a respectable 69 tries in eight years.

Despite having a career that was blighted by a few serious injuries lock Simon Taylor still racked up 66 caps for his country following his debut against the USA in November 2000. A dynamic and committed back-rower, Taylor represented Scotland at two Rugby World Cups in 2003 and 2007. He made a try-scoring debut for the British and Irish Lions during their tour of Australia in 2001 before being one of only three Scots in the squad for the tour of New Zealand four years later. He played for Edinburgh for six seasons between 2000 and 2006 and in 2007 agreed a three-year deal with Stade Français joining them immediately after the World Cup in 2007. He later joined Bath before hanging up his boots in 2013.
