England’s Joe Marler will receive no sanction despite admitting striking Wales’ Rob Evans in Saturday’s match at Twickenham, Six Nations organisers have announced.
The England pop had admitted the offence but the committee decided although there was contact it did not warrant a red card.
News of punishment, if any, for his ‘gypsy boy’ comment are expected tomorrow morning.
Marler apologised to Lee – who is from the Traveller community – for that comment, and Lee has said he accepted the apology as “banter”.
However, England coach Eddie Jones and Wales coach Warren Gatland have been criticised for using that same term to describe Marler’s comments.
Gatland has since issued an apology for causing any offence.
