Transfer Rumour: Bristol target Bath lock ahead of likely Premiership return

Bristol are continuing to show their financial muscle as they look to strengthen further ahead if a possible return to the Aviva Premiership at the first time of asking.

Pat Lam’s men, who were relegated last season have already signed the likes of All Black back-rower Steve Luatua and Ireland fly-half Ian Madigan in their bid for promotion.

The Rugby Paper has now reported that Lam has put Bath and England Saxons lock Elliot Stooke high up on his wanted list as he looks to further bolster their pack.

The 24-year-old was born in Worcester and began his career with Gloucester before a loan stint with London Irish and a permanent move to Bath.

Lam appears to not be wasting any time in his preparation for next season with Bristol currently four points clear at the top of the Championship.

They’ve already secured the signing of All Black Charles Piutau on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old played in 17 Tests for the All Blacks between 2013 and 2015.
