“Canadian Calibre” – Saracens Announce Signing of McKinley Hunt from Exeter Chiefs

Saracens have announced their first Summer signing ahead of the 2023/24 Allianz Premiership Women’s Rugby season, in the form of Canadian international McKinley Hunt.

The prop forward arrives in North London from Exeter Chiefs, with Hunt having previously made 33 appearances for the Devon club. Hunt had a brilliant tries-to-appearances ratio for the Chiefs, as she crossed over for 16 tries in those 33 matches.

The 26-year-old has shone on the international stage for Canada, as she even scored in last year’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final match against the USA. The front-rower is excited to get into the thick of the action, speaking to the Saracens club website, Hunt said;

“I am ecstatic to be joining Saracens! The club is at the forefront of the women’s game, and I am excited to challenge myself in a new environment with world-class players and an outstanding coaching staff. I can’t wait to get to work!”

Saracens Women Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry also expressed his joy in securing Hunt’s services.

“McKinley is a player we have long admired for both her performances domestically and on the international stage. She’s incredibly impactful defensively, with a huge work rate and the ability to influence the game in attack.

“It is very exciting to have a player and person that we have long admired joining the club. Her transition to loosehead prop is one that she has both embraced and excelled with and we are looking forward to working with her and taking her game to new heights.

“It will also be very exciting to see how McKinley’s influence both on and off the field will drive us forward.”
