With the eyes of the rugby world glued to France, you would be forgiven if you were unable to catch the opening two rounds of action in the 2023/24 Premiership Rugby Cup. The Rugby World Cup has taken the spotlight throughout September, whilst the Premiership and Championship rugby clubs have begun to battle it out in the new-look tournament.
The Premiership Rugby Cup (formally the Anglo-Welsh Cup), has received a re-structuring for the 2023/24 season. The 10 Premiership and 12 Championship sides have been split into four regional pools, with interesting match-ups taking shape in the early rounds of the competition. The reigning champions are Exeter Chiefs, as they secured a dramatic 24-20 victory in extra-time over London Irish, in last season’s finale.
Round three of action begins this Friday September 22nd, with Gloucester Rugby vs Harlequins being shown live on TNT Sports 1 and discovery+. The coverage begins at 19:15, with kick-off getting the game underway at 19:45. Highlights of the weekend’s 10 additional matches will be uploaded on Premiership Rugby’s YouTube Channel.
