CONFIRMED | Jonny May to leave Leicester at the end of the season

England speedster Jonny May will leave Leicester Tigers at the end of the 2019-20 season, rejoining Gloucester.

A product of the Gloucester Rugby Academy, Jonny played 121 times for Gloucester before moving on to Leicester Tigers in 2017.

The England international joined Tigers in the summer of 2017 from the Cherry & Whites and has scored 30 tries in 44 appearances for the club since his debut against Bath Rugby at Welford Road.

May, who has earned 56 England caps since his debut in 2013, said he was “proud” of his time at Welford Road.

He added: “For numerous reasons it hasn’t worked out for me to stay on at Leicester Tigers, which is a shame.

“It’s been a challenging few years but I have made some great mates and worked with some brilliant people.

“I leave knowing that with Geordie and Steve [Borthwick] coming in, along with a very talented group of players, this club is starting a new chapter, one that I hope brings everyone at Leicester Tigers the success they deserve. I wish everyone at Leicester Tigers all the very best.

“Thank you to everyone at Leicester Tigers, especially the fans, I’m sorry we haven’t given you what you have wanted the last few season but, like I said, I’m very optimistic about the future for Leicester Tigers.”
