England lock Courtney Lawes faces disciplinary action after being cited for a dangerous tackle on Alun Wyn Jones during Saturday’s encounter.

A statement regarding Courtney Lawes tackle on Alun Wyn Jones was issued by the Six Nations, saying: “The England No. 6 Courtney Lawes has been cited for an alleged infringement of Law 9.13 (A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.

England prop Joe Marler was also cited after he grabbed Alun Wyn Jones’ genitals during the first half at Twickenham, with the Wales captain calling for action after the match.

Their statement added: ““Joe Marler has been cited for an alleged infringement of Law 9.27 (A Player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship – Hair pulling or grabbing; Spitting at anyone; Grabbing, twisting or squeezing the genitals (and/or breasts in the case of female players) during the Guinness Six Nations England v Wales match last Saturday.”

The pair will appear before a disciplinary hearing in Dublin on Thursday, tournament organisers have announced.

Manu Tuilagi will also face a disciplinary hearing this week after being sent-off in the 75th minute of the Twickenham encounter for a shoulder charge to the head of George North.
