Eddie Jones tells forward to lose weight if he wants to play for England

BATH HOOKER Tom Dunn has ambitions to play for England but has revealed stern words from Eddie Jones has got him changing his lifestyle.

The hooker has been one of the unsung heroes for the Black, Blue and Whites this season and was invited to England’s training camp last August.

However, the Australian head coach warned Dunn that he needed to address his body shape and that’s exactly what he’s done in order to earn himself an opportunity at Test level.

“I was shocked to be called into the camp last August as I hadn’t actually trained much after my injury, but it was quite a nice feeling knowing the work I’d done hadn’t gone unnoticed,” revealed the 25-year-old to The Rugby Paper.

“Eddie was pretty up front, as he is, and he basically said that I needed to be less fat, have more lean mass and to keep working on my throwing. I agreed with his assessment.

“He wanted me to be bigger and more powerful, too, so since then I’ve worked hard with England’s nutritionist and our guys at Bath and I’ve put on three or four kilos over the season whilst getting my skinfold down by 20 millimetres.

“I’ve transformed my diet, less bread and potatoes, more vegetable chicken and fish, and I’m 110kg up from 107kg last year and much leaner rather than being jelly.”
