Exciting fly-half extends his contract at Harlequins

Harlequins have confirmed today that Harlequins Academy member James Lang has extended his time with the Club.

Confirming the announcement, Lang said: “I’m very excited to have re-signed for the Club, I’ve really enjoyed my first season and have learnt a lot which I intend to build on.

“I struggled with a couple of injuries last year which kept me out for a bit but I’m fit and healthy now and really looking forward to what’s ahead.

“Playing alongside Nick Evans last year helped me hugely and I have learnt a great deal just watching him play and train. He’s now taken up a coaching role and has been heavily involved with pre-season so far. I feel that both myself and the team will benefit from that a great deal.”

22-year-old Lang joined Harlequins in the summer of 2016 from Rugby Gogledd Cymru (RGC) in North Wales.

A strong kicker – both out of hand and at goal – Lang debuted for the Club away to Exeter Chiefs in September 2016.

In his first season with Harlequins, Lang went on to make five further appearances; scoring a late penalty in the comeback win away to Gloucester Rugby.

On Lang’s re-signing, Harlequins’ Director of Rugby, John Kingston added: “James showed in his first season with us, a considerable amount of potential in a key position. He is an extremely mature player with a real appetite to improve.

“I am, therefore, delighted that we have extended his contract further and look forward to his continuing development under our outstanding Coaching Team.”
