Fiji’s gold medal in Rio might not have been recognised at the World Rugby Awards on Sunday, but they have clinched a top award just days later.
The Fiji Sevens side were named best men’s team at the Association of National Olympic Committees awards.
Fiji captain Osea Kolinisau was present at the awards ceremony in Doha on Tuesday to collect the team’s prize.
The gold medal won by Fiji was the first ever Olympic medal in the country’s history.
Fiji still plan to make their feelings known to rugby union’s world governing body after being overlooked at the World Rugby awards this week.
