Former Harlequins wing Marland Yarde pays tribute to John Kingston

SALE SPEEDSTER Marland Yarde, who was forced out of Harlequins earlier this season, has paid tribute to sacked Director Of Rugby John Kingston.

“I got on well with JK,” Yarde said.

“He helped me a lot in my time at Harlequins. I don’t know what the ins and outs of his departure are and it is not really of major interest to me. My major interest is for him as a person and his welfare.

“John Kingston is a strong man and he is a very strong person mentally and I am sure whatever adversity he has been through right now he will come through it. I wish him all the best.”

“Sometimes change is good for you and I have embraced that change,” Yarde added.

“We need to push on now and try to achieve something special. They are my only focus right now.

“Harlequins have shown over the last few years they can beat anyone on their day but it is the inconsistency of their performances that has been an obvious work on. It is an issue, whether it is culturally as players or the message from the coaches not transferring over to the players.

“I am not there any more but obviously something is not working there and for a side with the quality of the players they have they should be doing a lot better. I wish them all the best and I wish JK all the best.”
