Four coaches nominated for annual Director of Rugby award

  • Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall leads the shortlist for Director of Rugby award
  • McCall guided Saracens, who ended the season top of the league, to victory in the European Champions Cup on Saturday
  • The 48-year-old Irishman won the title in 2013 and 2014
Saracens’ Mark McCall could win his third Premiership Director of Rugby of the Season award, after being nominated once again following their Champions Cup triumph.

He is up against Exeter chief Rob Baxter – who led the Chiefs to the play-offs for the first time – Sale’s Steve Diamond and Wasps’ Dai Young.

“This season was the most testing in Premiership Rugby history for our directors of rugby and head coaches with the late start due to the Rugby World Cup and the challenge of back to back competition in what is already one of the most competitive and intense environments in world rugby,” said Phil Winstanley rugby director at Premiership Rugby.

“This quartet and all their players have made a significant contribution to a compelling season and fully deserve to make this shortlist.”
