Because of their great performance and reputation for excellence, the New Zealand All Blacks make for a popular team to bet on, both for punters looking to support them and for people who want to try their luck and prove others wrong. In 2016, a $100,000 bet was placed at the beginning of the rugby season, paying $1.50, for the champions to make history and not lose a single game all year. For one man, it meant that just a few games stood between him and a $150,000 pay out or a $100,000 loss, following an unbeaten streak of 18 straight wins at Eden Park. But sadly, he lost when they were defeated 40-29, ending an 111-year losing streak for Ireland.
