France’s home Six Nations match against Italy WON’T be held in Paris

France will be taking the Six Nations show on the road when they face Italy during the 2018 Six Nations.

Les Bleus have been given permission by the Six Nations committee to shift from their usual base in Paris at the Stade de France and head south.

The fixture will now be played in Marseille at the magnificent Stade Vélodrome on Friday 23rd February 2018.

Although the city doesn’t have a major team to speak of the, they’ve been more and more involved with rugby in recent times, hosting the Top 14 semi-finals this past weekend as Toulon edged past La Rochelle and Clermont overcame Dan Carter’s Racing 92.

The south of France is also somewhat a hotbed for some the countries biggest clubs with the likes of Montpellier and Toulon being a stone throw from Marseille.
