Fundraiser set up after tragic death of rugby player exceeds its target – in less than 24 hours

East Dorset RFC has confirmed today that their tighthead-prop Jamie Davis passed away on Saturday the 11th January.

The 30-year-old, who is from Christchurch, was described as uncompromising on the field and an accomplished scrummager.

After going missing on Friday afternoon, very sadly, a body was discovered in the early hours of Saturday in the Totton area of Hampshire.

Chief Inspector Lindsay Dudfield, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are with Jamie’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and assisted with searches.”

Davis is survived by his wife and two sons.
