“Future England captain” – 5 players tipped to be ‘superstars’ by Eddie Jones

From Tom Curry and Sam Underhill to Maro Itoje and Ellis Genge – Eddie Jones has been adept at calling up the perfect players all over the pitch since taking over in 2015.

But not all of them came off…

We take a look at some of those players Jones called up since taking over in December 2015, and using the Aussies own words we try to understand why they never established themselves as fans once hoped.

#1. Alex Goode

He’s been one of the standout players in the Gallagher Premiership throughout the last decade.

However, it has never really worked out at international level with Eddie Jones not even considering him despite the numerous trophies he’s won with Sarries and the fact he was crowned European player of the year in 2019.

Rumours suggest that Jones and Goode fell out after the fullback questioned the Aussies tactics.

Where is he now? Back with Sarries for their return to the Gallagher Premiership following a decent stint in Japan
