Glasgow 22-5 Racing: Warriors sign off from this season’s Champions Cup in style

  • Glasgow signs off from this season’s Champions Cup with an impressive 22-5 victory over Racing Metro
  • The first-half was turgid but the Warriors were much-improved after the break
  • Stuart Hogg scored the hosts only try of the game after the restart with kicks from Finn Russell and Duncan Weir completing their tally
Although eliminated from the European Champions Cup, Glasgow Warriors recorded a morale-boosting 22-5 victory over slack Pool Three rivals Racing 92.

RUCK man of the match Finn Russell put Warriors 3-0 ahead at half-time after slotting a penalty before 19 second-half points to Racing’s five to put the French Top 14 leaders away.

The critical score was Scotland international fullback Stuart Hogg’s dived over for the games first try midway through the second period.

Racing eventually got off the mark four minutes later, when Cedate Gomes Sa managed to force his way over but 11 points in total from Russell’s boot and six more from replacement Duncan Weir secured the win.

It brought an end to a four-match losing run for Gregor Townsend’s Glasgow, but there was a worry also. Alex Dunbar, so important for Scotland in the upcoming Six Nations, limped off early in the second half.
