Harlequins Dave Ward facing biting charge

  • Harlequins hooker Dave Ward has been charged by the Rugby Football Union for allegedly biting Jackson Wray
  • The 30-year-old will face a disciplinary panel later today
  • Quins lock James Horwill is also up on a striking charge
  • Saracens prop Rhys Gill has been charged with making a dangerous tackle
Three players will appear before an RFU Disciplinary panel this afternoon following the weekend’s heated Aviva Premiership match between Harlequins and Saracens.

Dave Ward  will appear infront of the panel – chaired by Dr Julian Morris – at the London Bloomsbury Holiday Inn due to an alleged act that is contrary to good sportsmanship. This comesafter the Quins hooker was cited for allegedly biting Jackson Wray of Saracens in the second half.

Fellow Quins man James Horwill has also been charged for punching or striking, contrary to Law 10.4(a) after he was alleged to have struck Saracens lock George Kruis in the first half of the match.

Meanwhile, Saracens and  Wales prop Rhys Gill, who was sent off during the second half of the match after tip tackling George Lowe, will also discover his fait.
