Harlequins name exciting starting XV for Jersey Reds clash

Head of Rugby Paul Gustard has selected a young team to face the Championship side at the Stade Santander International, with Scrum-half Charlie Mulchrone as captain and Ben Tapuai, the Australian summer signing from Bath, playing at Centre.

“We are very excited about the season ahead and have had a positive pre-season at Surrey Sports Park to date with the squad training with great energy and enthusiasm,” said Gustard.

“Now we have the chance to put the hard work we have invested on the training field into practice against a very accomplished Jersey Reds side as we continue to build and get stronger towards the start of the season on 1st September. It will be a good challenge against a big, powerful team and I am looking forward to seeing what this group of players can do for Harlequins.”

Gustard has also selected three first-year Academy players – Back Row Jack Kenningham, Second Row Hugh Tizard and Centre Harry Barlow – in the squad.

“I am pleased to be able to include the Academy players in the group and it will be an important experience for them to be a part of this fixture. Jack, Harry and Hugh have all contributed well to pre-season training and deserve this opportunity.”
