Hurricanes 31-31 British & Irish Lions – match report

The British & Irish Lions ended their midweek schedule with a 31-31 draw with the Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Tuesday.

After Dan Biggar’s early penalty put the tourists ahead, Tommy Seymour opened the try-scoring after 17 minutes with the Welshman adding the extras, 0-10.

Another penalty from Biggar extended the Lions lead to 13 points before Hurricanes flanker Callum Gibbins try, converted by Jordie Barrett, reduced the deficit to just six points.



Biggar quickly increased the lead with another penalty before George North collected an offload from Iain Henderson to race under the posts unchallenged. Another two from Biggar gave the Lions a 23-7 lead at the break.

A second try from Seymour extended their lead bu the tourists conceded two late tries when down to 14 men.

Dan Biggar missed a drop-goal to win.

The Lions will be back at the Westpac Stadium on Saturday for their second Test against New Zealand, which kicks off at 08:35 BST.
