While Gatland is upbeat about Lions flank Justin Tipuric’s prospects of being fit after a thigh injury, Williams could face a battle to recover in time for the New Zealand match in Cardiff.

“I’m not sure about Liam Williams. He is hobbling around,” Gatland said when asked about injuries during his post-match press conference.
