James Haskell slammed by Lawrence Dallaglio for attending Royal Wedding

Wasps were last night forced to defend James Haskell after World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio criticised his absence from their Aviva Premiership play-off defeat in order to attend the royal wedding.

Haskell was ruled out of the Allianz Park showdown due to a foot injury and was given permission by director of rugby Dai Young to go to the big day at Windsor Castle.

But former Wasps and England captain Dallaglio felt the loyalty of the departing flanker should have been to his club.

“It would be poor form really, wouldn’t it?” Dallaglio said in his role as a TV pundit.

“He should be here with his team-mates. I’m sure Harry wouldn’t mind, he loves his rugby.”

Austin Healey also laid into the England flanker for turning his back on his side’s biggest game of the season.

Healy added: “Injury or not, he should be here. I can’t understand that.

“At Leicester, when you know it’s your last season and you were injured, you would still be here.

“You would want to be in the changing room, you would want to be here.”
