Leinster’s Cian Healy signs new three-year deal

  • Ireland’s Cian Healy has signed a new three-year IRFU contract
  • The deal keeps him at Leinster until the end of the World Cup in 2019
  • The 28-year-old has won three European Cups
Cian Healy has signed a new central contract with the IRFU which will see the loosehead prop remain at Leinster up until the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

It was reported in recent weeks that Healy was offered a chance to join Aviva Premiership side Worcester Warriors but it will come as a huge relief to Leinster and Ireland fans that he has signed on the dotted line with the union.

Commenting on the new contract Healy said: “I feel that I am coming back to full fitness now and would like to thank the medical and S&C teams for their ongoing support.

“There are a lot of exciting young talented players coming through at Leinster and Ireland and I am looking forward to competing for silverware over the next few seasons.”

The prop has missed the first two rounds of the Six Nations but will train with Ireland on Thursday in Mullingar before being released to feature for Leinster against Cardiff on Saturday.
