Here we go, then. We all know you’re not reading the intro here. You’ve already skipped straight to the good stuff. And who can blame you? Transfers are great.

Except not always…

Just a word on our methodology, before we begin. Bad transfers are ranked based on four key factors: original cost, sell-on fee (or lack thereof), individual (under)performance and off-field issues/general embarrassment to the club.

So without further ado, here’s RUCK’s definitive ranking of the five worst transfers in football since 2000.

#1. Nemani Nadolo (Exeter Chiefs)

Signed for the club 11th Jan 2011 but was registered under his Aussie passport and therefore cost the club 2 points and £5,000 for fielding too many overseas players.

He was then convicted of drink driving, banned from the road for 18 months, and released by the club in May 2011. He failed to score a single try in his four appearances for the Chiefs. However, his career has done nothing but rise ever since so that’s nice.
