LIST | A look at the day jobs of the Women’s Six Nations stars

#1. Claire McLaughlin (Ireland) – Doctor

After studying medicine, the back-rower spent her foundation year as a junior doctor at Mater Infirmorum Hospital, Belfast. At the hospital, her work colleagues gave her the nickname of “McSwaplin”, since she often swapped shifts at the hospital to accommodate her rugby schedule. She will once again be a key member of the 2021 Six Nations squad for Ireland.

During sport’s absence, she cared for patients in a hospital in Cardiff. Now, though her focus is all on the pitch. She turned in a player-of-the-match display in the win over Italy in October.
