Mark McCall gives the latest on Billy Vunipola knee injury

Bully Vunipola’s injury woes continued as he went off with a knee injury in Saracens’ 41-13 win over Sale Sharks

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall was able to confirm that it was the player’s right knee, the same one he injured against Argentina last November.

“He is off at the moment getting a scan.” revealed McCall.

“It is a knee injury and let’s pray and hope it is not as bad as it looked. It was very cruel luck and we obviously feel for him terribly.”

“We have lost three very good back-row players in seven days. So, we are going to have to delve into the squad over the next period of time.

“We have got some good young players coming through our academy.

“Joel Kopku is going to play for our A team on Sunday. Ben Earl, Jack Nay, who play for the under 20’s side.

“Then we have the ability to play Maro in the back row, we have a good stock of second rows. But it is likely we are going to have to bring someone in. I would think we will have to weigh it up.”
