Racing 92 have released a statement confirming the suspension of Martin Castrogiovanni after a photo of the player partying it up in Las Vegas this weekend was released to the media.
What makes this such a serious matter is that Castrogiovanni allegedly told Racing management that he was in Argentina seeing to a “family health problem” and could therefore not travel with rest of the Racing squad for their Champions Cup semi-final match over Leicester Tigers in Nottingham.
“Following the publication in the media of photographs showing Martin Castrogiovanni with Paris Saint-Germain footballers this weekend at a hotel in Las Vegas, while the entire Racing squad was in Nottingham to contest a semi-final, Racing 92 have decided to suspend the player as a precautionary measure prior to launching legal proceedings,” read a statement on the club’s website.
Racing beat Leicester 19-16 and will face Saracens in the Champions Cup final, which takes place in Lyon on 14 May.
