Mike Ford to reportedly meet with Toulon this Friday

  • Mike Ford is reportedly set to meet with Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal on Friday
  • The 50-year-old was sacked by Bath at the end of last season
  • The President of the Toulon is also interested in Vern Cotter
Former Bath head coach Mike Ford is reportedly set to meet with Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal this Friday.

L’Equipe report that Ford, who left Bath following a dismal ninth-placed finish last season in the Premiership a year on from reaching the final, is in contention to take over from current boss Diego Dominguez.

Dominguez is only a few weeks into the role after succeeding Bernard Laporte but cracks are already starting to appear for the three-time European champions.

Toulon have won just one of their first three Top 14 matches this season, losing to Bayonne and more recently at home to Brive last weekend, prompting Boudjellal to label his team as “rubbish”.

Ford previously worked as a defence coach with the England national side.

Boudjellal is also allegedly interested in working with former Clermont boss Vern Cotter, but the current Scotland head coach is under contract until June 2017 when he is due to step down.

In other news for Toulon, star winger Josua Tuisova suffered an injury to his right knee in training on Tuesday morning, putting his participation against Toulouse this weekend in doubt.
