Popular Welsh referee Nigel Owens has revealed the unlikely way England rugby star Joe Marler greets him every time he sees him.
Top referee Nigel Owens, speaking at a live recording of The Welsh Rugby Podcast to raise funds for clubs affected by the recent flooding, told a story of his own personal dealings with Marler
He revealed the England loose-head prop would always welcome Owens by saying ‘good morning’ in Welsh, regardless of what time of day it was.
“Every time I go into the English changing room before a game – you do the usual stuff, have the front row chats – he always comes up and says ‘bore da’.
Marler to Owens: “Blow for full time, blow for full time!”

Owens: “You tired?”
Marler: “Knackered.”
“No matter what time of the day it is, it’s ‘bore da’.
“I keep telling him ‘it’s prynhawn da now or nos da’.
“The last time I did him was England’s game recently against France. It was the afternoon and he came up to me and said ‘prynhawn da’.”
