Bristol Rugby’s relegation from the Aviva Premiership has finally been confirmed, with London Irish booking their place in the Championship final alongside Yorkshire Carnegie.
Irish, who finished clear at the top of the table in the regular season, backed up their 35-3 semi-final first-leg win at Doncaster with a 39-22 victory at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

There was an outside chance Bristol could yet survive after a Championship announcement that both Doncaster and Ealing did not apply for a required independent audit that assesses clubs’ promotion eligibility to the Premiership.
However, London Irish confirmed their place in the final against Yorkshire Carnegie, who are both fit for taking their place in the Premiership.
