Here is one player each Gallagher Premiership club should sign this summer.
Bath rugby – Brodie Retallick
The 28-year-old is back in New Zealand after his Kobe Steelers sabbatical was cut short by the COVID-enforced cancellation of the Japanese league. However, the lock has rejected an offer from Super Rugby side The Chiefs to remain a free agent. He’s reportedly having a bit of a break with his family before making his return. A line-out general like Retallick is the sort of player Bath need to go to the next level.
Bristol Bears – Logovi’i Mulipola
Pat Lam has built a phenomenal squad, making it hard to find someone who could considerably improve them. When Logovi’i Mulipola finishes his short-term deal at Gloucester, it never hurts to have a powerhouse international prop who can operate on either side of the scrum.
Exeter Chiefs – D.T.H van der Merwe
You can never have enough natural try-scorers at a club. The Canadian international, who departed Glasgow Warriors this summer, is one of the best around when it comes to crossing the whitewash and despite being 34-year-old he could still do a job off the bench for Rob Baxter’s men
