“Our captain” – Eddie Jones picks five ‘nailed-on’ players for England’s 2023 World Cup squad

Appearing on Talk Sport in the run-up to the 2022 Six Nations, England head coach Eddie Jones was asked to name the five ‘nailed-on’ players for his World Cup squad.

England will be aiming to go one better at next years showpiece in France after being beat in the final three years ago by South Africa in Japan.

All five of his picks featured during the 2019 tournament with Jones going on to say they’ll form ‘the strong spine of a growing and developing side.

There was no mention of wonderkid fly-half Marcus Smith with the England boss reluctant to put any more pressure or spotlight upon the 23-year-old.
