“Out Of Retirement” Former Wales Hooker Kristian Dacey Signs for Welsh Championship Side

Former Wales international Kristian Dacey has come out of retirement, and has agreed a deal to join Welsh Championship side Brecon RFC. Dacey ended his career in April following his release from United Rugby Championship club Cardiff.

However, the 33-year-old is back in and is ready for his return to rugby. Dacey began his career at Pontypridd, and went on to make over 200 caps for Cardiff. The hooker also achieved eight test match caps for his country, making his debut off the bench in a 2015 Rugby World Cup warm-up match against Ireland. Dacey was also called up by Warren Gatland for the 2017 British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand.

He confirmed he was retiring in an emotional statement, Wales Online stated that he had decided to quit while he is “still able to enjoy running around with my children” after undergoing nine different operations. However Dacey has made his return, and picked his boots off the hanger.

The former Wales international joins Brecon following their recent promotion into the Welsh second division. He will join his brother Gavin at the Mid Wales club, and is listed as an incredibly versatile hooker/flanker/inside centre.
