Popular Welsh referee Nigel Owens took to social media this morning to defend BBC pundit Jonathan ‘Jiffy’ Davies after he was criticised on social media.
One user wrote, tagging Owens in the tweet: “Dear @BBCSport – Pleeease can you drop @JiffyRugby from live commentary? Being more one-eyed than a pirate and blatantly biased towards @WelshRugbyUnion has grated for a while, but laughing at opposition mistakes? “This is NOT soccer” as @Nigelrefowens might say…”

The 47-year-old responded this morning, saying: “He is one of the best pundits out there. Fair and articulate in what he calls.
“Like all pundits, he will be passionate about the country he has played for but that does not mean he is being biased. His commentary was fair and spot on as always.”
