There is never a dull moment for Jack Nowell, whether he’s playing for England in front of 80,000 screaming fans, modelling the latest Mustard Clothing range or pulling a pint in his local pub.
This weekend the Exeter Chiefs winger starts for Eddie Jones men as they look to keep their Six Nations hpes alive against Ireland at Twickenham.
“They’re on form at the moment but I’d never write us off at Twickenham. We will go into this game all guns blazing,” said Nowell.
“We have some really talented players in our team so I wouldn’t write us off too early.”
“It feels so good to be back, the fact I’ve worked so hard to get back makes it sweeter,” added Nowell, who hadn’t played for England since the 2019 World Cup prior to the 2022 Six Nations.
“I needed time away, I spoke to Eddie Jones and we both agreed I’d lost my bounce so I went away and got fit again. I’ve still got a lot more to give and hopefully that will shine through in the next few weeks.
“What also helped through my recovery was finding things to help me switch off.”
Away from the pitch, the 28-year-old is a director of Mustard Clothing.
“It is going very well,” he said about a business founded in 2015 and operating out of St Ives, Looe and Wadebridge. “The reason why I wanted to get involved was that it is really hard to find clothes that fit me.
“It really is hard to find good clothes for rugby players, sometimes a couple of washes and after that they are finished. But I was lucky enough to have a couple of t-shirts from Mustard and I was like, ‘This is a brand I want to be involved in, I want to see can I help them.
“I spoke with Tom (Cheesman) and I know his wife as well who I went to college with. I said, ‘“Would you be interested in letting me jump in? I can hopefully chuck a few designs at you and a few of my ideas and see where we could go’. They were buzzing to have me on board and let me help out which was great.
“It’s nice to have clothes that actually fit me, and good quality clothes as well, and I have actually dropped down a size. I went from an XL top to a large, so I feel pretty good about myself.
“Tom has been doing it for six, seven years now, a few years before I jumped in. Hopefully, we are just at the start of what we want to do and we have got so many plans. Now the pandemic is coming to an end we can actually out and get a few of these ideas out there and try and make the most of it.
“I think we’ve done pretty well and there’s some exciting things lined up for the future. I’ve got a couple of the boys wearing it and they all love it.
