Premiership runners-up Wasps say they have “moved on” from trying to sign Leigh Halfpenny as another club are forced to pull out of their pursuit for the Wales star.

“We were really keen to get Leigh on board and we tried over a period of months,” Wasps director of rugby Dai Young told The Rugby Paper.

“But we found it very hard to get a decision out of him and in the end we couldn’t get one. We have moved on since then.”

Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal revealed last month that Halfpenny, one of France’s highest earners, wouldn’t be offered an extended stay at the Stade Mayol.



Negotiations over the length of a potential national dual contract with Cardiff Blues also fell down due to excessive wage demands. and it has left Halfpenny still searching for new employers.
