Cosatu in the Western Cape says it has cancelled its planned protest at Saturday’s test between the Boks and the All Blacks at Newlands Stadium.
Cosatu says it is unhappy about SuperSports’ monopoly over rugby broadcast rights.
It says many people especially those who do not subscribe to the Multichoice Dstv bouquet are unable to watch rugby matches live.
A meeting was apparently held on Friday among the stakeholders to find a solution.
Commenting on the outcome of the meeting, Cosatu’s Western Cape secretary Tony Ehrenreich says, “Cosatu is concerned that the poor are being left out, the minister of sport, Saru have agreed that our people must see rugby matches live, the problem is that Supersport they walked out of the meeting.”
