Gloucester rugby club will use this Friday’s Premiership match against Sale Sharks to raise awareness of mental health issues in response to the abuse that Danny Cipriani suffered following Caroline Flack’s tragic death.
Cipriani and Flack, dated for around eight weeks in mid-2019 and remained friends.
Former TalkSport presenter Mike Parry initially stood by the vile comments he targeted at Danny Cipriani despite facing a barrage of criticism from members of the public.
I want to apologise unreservedly to @DannyCipriani87 for my comments last Saturday following the tragic death of wonderful Caroline Flack. I had no idea you’d had a relationship with Caroline and misinterpreted your tweet. I offer my total sympathy to you in this difficult time.— Mike Parry (@mikeparry8) February 18, 2020
But on Tuesday evening he publicly stated: “I want to apologise unreservedly to Danny Cipriani for my comments last Saturday following the tragic death of wonderful Caroline Flack. I had no idea you’d had a relationship with Caroline and misinterpreted your tweet. I offer my total sympathy to you in this difficult time.”
The Gloucester fly-half was labelled a “failed rugby playing bum” and “truly pathetic” by Parry before revealing playing a rugby match had caused him to miss a call from her before her death.
RUCK.co.uk would like to send our prayers to all of Flack’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
