4. United Rugby Championship (Wales) = £5 million (estimated)
Wales’ four regions agreed to increase their wage cap from £3.5m to £4.5m per team in 2015. They are now believed to be spending closer to £5 million, varying slightly on each region.
3. Gallagher Premiership salary cap – £5 million
For the 2021-22 Salary Cap Year, the level is being reduced to £5,000,000 from £6,400,000. This decision was made in summer 2020 as Premiership Rugby and the Clubs were dealing with the catastrophic Covid-19 pandemic, the effects of which will mean that there will be economic challenges facing the Clubs for many years to come.
