Els in action 🏉💁🏼‍♀️ – – So I just watched a few of the videos from @sarasigmunds perseverance series.. and it made me realise growing up we weren’t all that different.. but why? Considering she does cross fit and I play rugby? – Growing up Sara was embarrassed for being strong and into the gym unlike other girls… growing up, I probably would have been embarrassed if anyone mentioned I played rugby.. Untagged rugby photos of myself and generally didn’t like talking about it.. back then I didn’t feel it was cool to play rugby as a girl.. it wasn’t something considered normal or attractive for a girl 🤦🏼‍♀️ secretly I’ve always loved the way it makes me feel and I don’t think I’m all too bad at it either.. but I always would prefer to hide that side of me. – In all honesty the amount of parents and mums who would say to my own mum ‘you shouldn’t let her play that, she should be playing netball or something’ and ‘she’s going to just get hurt’ but my mum has always been my number one supporter and always fought my corner…I don’t think she’s missed many matches in 16 years whatever the weather and has always encouraged me to do what I love. – I’m not going to pretend I’m this big inspiring figure, in reality I’m very irrelevant to most of you😂.. but what I am saying is.. please don’t be afraid to pursue what you love, don’t do things to fit in with the crowd.. embrace who you are and most importantly keep your true support system close to home..because in reality those people you are trying to impress are not going to stick around when the going gets tough. – So thanks Mum, you’ll always be my hero😊 and any girls thinking about starting rugby or lifting yaaaaas go for it🙌🏼 – – #fitness #fitfam #womensrugby #rugby #girlswholift #strongwomen #thisgirlcan #fitnessgirl #fitnessjourney

Eating in a surplus does not have to be scary.. eating in a surplus is what has resulted in crazy muscle gain over the last year.. eating in a surplus has given me the energy to smash my gym sessions.. it has given me a curvier physique, it has made me feel strong AF and given me crazy energy for exercise as well as everyday life. – Because the truth is I’ve been there, stuck in a prolonged deficit.. chasing a shredded physique all year round.. it doesn’t get you anywhere. Most people couldn’t give a monkeys if you’ve got abs, so you may as well focus on what’s best for you.. and correct me if I’m wrong but Shiite moods, irritability, losing your period, becoming anti social.. just to chase some abdominals doesn’t seem like the best option for you💁🏼‍♀️ – Focus less on numbers and more on what you are putting into your body, nourish your body with plenty of nutrients, move a little and you’ll be amazed what it does for your moods – – – #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitfam #gymgirl #gymmotivation #girlswholift #strongwomen #strongnotskinny #backgains #upperbody #athlete #nutrition #surplus #weighttraining #womensrugby #rugby #womenempowerment #igfitness
