Rugby on TV: The East Midlands derby is the star of the show

After a record-breaking opening week, there’s a feast of rugby, including the East Midlands derby, on the box in Round Two of Aviva Premiership Rugby.

On Saturday, Leicester Tigers travel to Franklin’s Gardens to take on Northampton Saints (kick off 16.30) live on BT Sport with both sides looking to bounce back from opening day defeats.

Earlier that afternoon, Bath Rugby welcome Saracens to the Rec. Kick-off is at 2pm, with coverage starting at 1.30pm on BT Sport 3.

The hosts will be without coach Tabai Matson after the Kiwi decided to return to New Zealand for family reasons following Bath’s opening day win at Welford Road over the Tigers.

Saracens meanwhile will be on a high from their 55-24 success over the Saints at Twickenham in the London Double Header in Round One.

The weekend’s televised rugby begins on Friday night with Newcastle Falcons travelling to the AJ Bell Stadium to face Sale Sharks, as coverage starts at 7pm ahead of a 7.45 kick-off.

The Falcons beat Worcester Warriors last weekend and will want to put on a show for the live TV cameras against the Sharks – who lost to Wasps in Round One.

And the Warriors will conclude this weekend’s four TV games when they welcome Wasps to Worcester on Sunday afternoon, with kick-off at 3pm.

Coverage from Sixways will start at 2.30pm on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 4K UHD.

And for fans who miss any of the live action, they can catch all the highlights with Mark Durden-Smith and David Flatman on Channel 5 at 8pm on Sunday night.
