RUMOUR | Four Premiership clubs in the fight for British Lion

The race to sign Wales back-rower Ross Moriarty is beginning to get crowded as no less than five Gallagher Premiership clubs join the battle for his signature.

According to Neil Fissler from The Rugby Paper, the 25-year-old is at the ‘centre of a three-nation tug of war’ with teams from England, France and Wales all interested.

The Dragons want to keep hold of Moriarty but face local competition from Cardiff Blues and Ospreys for the abrasive back-rower.

Moriarty did win an appeal to have his maximum salary increased by the WRU, however, he could still leave as their are clubs with deeper pockets eyeing him up.

From the Premiership there is interest from Bath, Exeter Chiefs, Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints while across the Channel big-spending French sides, Lyon, Montpellier and Toulon are all keen.

According to the report, he will take time to weigh up his options and make his decision in the next few weeks

EDITORS PICKS:

Having played for England Under 18 and Under 20, Moriarty made his Wales international debut against Ireland in August, 2015.

He originally missed out on selection for Warren Gatland’s 2015 World Cup squad but was brought in after Eli Walker’s hamstring injury forced the Ospreys winger out of the tournament.

Moriarty’s father Paul played in the first World Cup in 1987 before forging a successful rugby league career with Widnes.
