Sam Warburton set to sit out England clash

  • Wales captain Sam Warburton is likely to miss Sunday’s game against England
  • Warburton suffered the injury playing for Cardiff Blues against Ospreys on 30 April
  • Lock Alun Wyn Jones is likely to feature after a heel injury, while prop Paul James faces a fitness test on his calf
Ever since Sam Warburton went off with a shoulder injury that ended his domestic season, his mind will have been focused on getting fit for the New Zealand tour.

The Wales captain in his bid to regain full fitness though now looks set to sit out of the England match on Sunday as he looks to ensure his recovery remains on course.

Lock Alun Wyn Jones though is likely to return from his heel injury while prop Paul James faces a fitness test on his calf.

Prop Samson Lee and centre Scott Williams are fit after missing the end of the Pro12 season.

Sunday’s game is a warm-up for Wales’ three-Test tour to New Zealand in June.
